Essentials of Surgical Ophthalmic Pathology for the Optometric Lid Surgeon

This course provides an overview of the essentials needed for a lid surgeon to properly understand the peri-operative, pathology-related decisions and interpretation of pathology reports required when a surgical specimen will result from the procedure. This will include review of fixative options, use of pre-processing inks to identify tumor margins, special stains and their meaning in reading a pathology report, a review of histology and surgical pathology terminology and special consideration of procedures routinely done when granulomatous tissue is encountered.
