A Tale of Three Nerves Differentiating the Edematous Optic Nerve (70731-NO, 2 hours)

Optic nerve edema is a nonspecific posterior segment finding that can present in problem-focused visits in all models of Optometric practice. Using case examples as the framework, this course will present the most common categories of optic nerve edema and their differential diagnosis. Optic nerve disorders will be organized systematically to illustrate the importance of critical thinking during the problem-focused exam, and disc edema will be classified under the categories Papilledema, Optic Neuritis, and Optic Neuropathy Anterior with further subclassification presented and discussed.
